The holidays strike again! Halloween marks the first of 4 big holidays that torment our skin. As grown ups, we often aren’t so tempted by the spooky sugary treats (and with all that high fructose corn syrup, they are spooky!) But many of us sure do go the distance with multiple parties and making efforts to impress our kids. Face paint is a common easy go to, but how does our sensitive facial skin respond? Here are 4 EASY D.I.Y. tips for how you can love your skin and help it recover!
- Sweat! Go out and get your sweat on. That is the best way to unclog your pores and detoxify your skin. Run, try Hot Yoga, take a sauna or a steam bath.
- Clean your face with coconut oil. Pour some oil in your palm and rub hands together warming the oil. Then rub it all over your face in circular motions. This will help lift any residual grease from the costume makeup and balance the pH of your skin. After 30 seconds of massaging your face with the oil, take a warm wash cloth and wipe off the oil. You may notice color or brown hue on the washcloth and if so, there is your evidence that your skin was filthy!
- Do a honey mask. Get some raw honey and smooth it all over your face. Leave on for 20 minutes. Wash off with a warm wash cloth and feel the difference! Your skin will feel softer and have a glow. It is really great if you happen to have an aloe plant and can put raw aloe on following the honey mask.
- Drink 2 glasses/day of lemon water with apple cider vinegar. Best to make a pitcher, fill with pure water, squeeze 2 whole lemons and add 6 T apple cider vinegar. That ought to tide you over for 2 days.
