The Throat Chakra is the fifth Chakra
Location: At the notch between the medial points of the clavicle (collar bone).
Sanskrit Name: Vishuddha
Associated Colors: Sky Blue
Associated Body parts: Thyroid gland, throat and jaw areas, lungs, vocal cords, digestive tract
Significance: This Chakra controls mental creativity and communication activities. When this Chakra is balanced, we speak and listen in the spirit of truth, and also express anger and other emotions in a constructive manner. Energizing this Chakra also improves one’s clairaudience.
Imbalances: When this Chakra is blocked, communication suffers. In addition, things like over indulgence in eating and drinking may occur. Respiratory disorders, dental disorders and low esteem are also consequences of imbalance of this Chakra. Some people also get feelings of anger; hostility and resentment are also associated with misbalancing of this Chakra.
Function: The throat chakra is our voice center. It is through our spoken word that we express ourselves to others. The healthfulness of this chakra is signified by how openly and honestly a person expresses himself or herself. A challenge to the throat chakra is for us to express ourselves in the most truthful manner. Falsehoods and half-truths energetically pollute the throat chakra.
The throat chakra is associated with the vocal cords and the thyroid gland. It is the chakra of communication, telepathy, and creative expression. Unexpressed emotions tend to constrict this energy center. Your inner truth is your sense of what is correct-your innate tendencies and inclinations. In every situation, we should be humble, open, and receptive, suspending all previous judgments in order to grasp the inner truth of the matter. Rely on the truth of the inner voice and the inner truth will prevail.
